"Thing 9 - create your own search engine"

Using Rollyo to create my own seearch engine was really easy. You don't even have to sign in  - although I did create yet another account as I wasn't convinced that my first attempt had worked because I couldn't "see" it.

My immediate thought was to create a search engine for my musicblog, but I thought I would try it out on my 23 things blog first.
It seems to be yet another way that we can put our blogs "out there" as the search engine and personal profiles that you can create can be made visible. I liked the fact that it's easy to go back into and add or change sites and that you don't have to put too much personal information in if you don't want to.

I didn't make this search engine publically visible for this test as I wasn't sure what that might mean and I didn't ask  permission from people to include their blogs. So it is just for me, to help me find things.

I'm not sure which words it is picking up- when testing it, I think it is being selective, However "thing" seems to work!

Lives and loves of a Victorian Clerk

I read an interesting article relating to the lives and loves of a Victorian Clerk .Westminster City Council archives have created a blog based on a Victorian Clerk's diary of 1846 - transcribing the entries, then loading them on to the blog  including related images from the archive and releasing the entries on the equivalent day in 2010. It seems to have created a stir Nationally and Internationally - seems like a really interesting way of using blogging technology to lead to a collection.
